Business Support organisations include, Regional Development Agencies, Business Links, Learning and Skills Council, Sector Skills Councils, Local Authorities and Colleges. The publicly funded business support sector is currently undergoing radical change, with much of it being downsized and transformed. The drivers for this change include:

  • A desire for performance improvement and
  • New delivery models via public/private partnerships.

One of the major changes currently underway is the provision of Business Link Services with each region reviewing and reorganising delivery arrangements. To improve customer satisfaction and client penetration the core business support services will be delivered under the Information, Diagnosis and Brokerage (IDB) Model.

In addition to adopting new delivery models, many of the Business Links will also undergo major organisational change, including mergers with other Business Links, Chambers of Commerce and private sector companies.

These changes will create new and exciting challenges, not just for the Business Links Organisations (BLOs) but also for the:

  • Regional Development Agencies (RDAs)
  • Learning and Skills Councils (LSCs)
  • Sector Skills Councils (SSCs)
  • Public and private sector providers

Train To Gain

Train to Gain is a new, free Skills Brokerage service, funded and managed by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and Business Link that helps to boost your productivity and keep you ahead of the competition.

QED Consulting is one of the Skills Brokers acting on behalf of the LSC and Business Link.
