Organisations are increasingly recognising the importance of adopting a rigorous and well-designed recruitment programme to ensure that the right people are being selected and developed. At QED we believe that an effective recruitment process is essential to ensuring that the right people are being selected and developed in the appropriate way.

Effective recruitment begins with identifying and then selecting for those behaviours that an employee needs in order to perform excellently in their role. At QED we achieve this through conducting a job analysis and identifying the core competencies i.e., the key skills and qualities that might be expected of a successful employee.  This process allows us to then map the “core critical competencies” for the organisation and the post as well as the “competences” (what the person is able to do).

Establishment of the core competencies is the basis of any assessment process and enables us to design a range of robust and rigorous selection tools including competency based interviews and Assessment Centres which we use against validated psychometric tests as appropriate, measured against an organisation’s competencies.

 
Defining the desired competencies not only allows an organisation to identify and seek these throughout the recruitment process, they also offer an agreed and unambiguous measure for performance appraisal, personal development, coaching, training and succession planning.
