Steve Hinton

Steve Hinton BSc CEng MIMechE

Executive Chairman of QED

t: 01302 761222

e: steve [at] qedconsulting.co.uk

Steve is an experienced consultant who works with Chief Executives, Managing Directors, Senior Executives and other leaders. He brings a combination of wide business and consultancy experience and excellent interpersonal and coaching skills. He has a particular expertise in the whole field of business support, enterprise and entrepreneurship.

He has had a varied and multi-faceted career. He trained as an engineer and worked in manufacturing management and then general management. His entrepreneurial spirit emerged in 1987 when he led a buyout to form a new engineering group in the rail sector. After running that company for 6 years, the desire to do something different again asserted itself and he was one of the founders of QED Consulting. Steve is the Executive Chairman and owner of the business and focuses his client work on senior level coaching and high level consultancy projects.

Steve’s style is challenging, practical, business focused and very effective. He helps to stimulate and embed deep changes in behaviour and performance – transforming clients’ personal and business achievements. He has a First Class Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College and he is an NLP Business Practitioner. He is Chairman of the British American Project, a transatlantic leadership development and networking organisation.

Married to Michèle, with three grown up children, he spends his spare time sailing his catamaran. A passionate runner, Steve has taken part in numerous marathons and swears by the problem-solving and de-stressing clarity that a good run provides. With such a healthy outlook on life, we often turn a blind eye to his weakness for the occasional Bacon sandwich.

Directors

QED Consulting has three very different but enthusiastic, charismatic and committed Directors, whose strengths are utilised across the company. The Directors play a key role within the board at strategic level and as well as utilising their vast experience in service delivery, they direct the company in the broad areas of operations, enterprise and sales and marketing.

Kathy’s broad leadership and management experience enables her to support clients with a practical, insightful and inclusive approach to the achievement of objectives. She has been involved in a wide range of individual and organisational development initiatives taking a realistic and client-centred approach ensuring improved performance and the maximisation of potential. Kathy heads up QED Consulting’s Coaching team and is particularly passionate about optimising individual potential.

Kathy is also mum to 3 lively children who provide many useful and humorous examples to support her workshops and to keep the office entertained! She is currently involved in writing a book on Human Resource in the Leisure Services, is non-executive director of the Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield and Deputy Chair of the Governing Body of a local school.

Kathy’s current favourite quote is:

‘If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the men to go to the forest to gather wood, saw it and nail the planks together. Instead, teach them the desire for the sea.’ Antoine de Saint-Exupery.

With so many things in common (such as having a young lively family and being fluent in French), Kathy is hopeful that if Hollywood ever gets round to making a movie of her life, Kristen Scott Thomas would jump at the opportunity portray her.
